WHAT IS AMMA?

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

KARATE

The curriculum for the AMMA Karate class is the foundation for our self-defense system. This includes learning to defend yourself in street situations (including bullying) through the use of striking, blocking, punching, kicking and shifting techniques. Additionally we teach belt preparation so our students will advance in rank (belts).

FORMS (KATA)
Kata is the unification of the mind, body and spirit. The objective is to display your intensity, express your spirit, and perfect technique.

SELF-DEFENSE
Three levels of Self-Defense (SD) are taught: i.verbal-utilizing mental and verbal skills to prevent aggression. Ii.Gentle-using non striking defensive technique to subdue an attacker, iii. Survival-a threating attack cannot be avoided and every technique learned are utilized for safety. 

KICK-BOXING

AMMA Kick-Boxing combines all the basic karate techniques with American and Muay Thai kickboxing. An emphasis is placed on cardio conditioning, aerobic health and muscular definition. Kick-Boxing is performed in a fun, challenging and high energy sports/competition atmosphere.

GRAPPLING

Grappling class teaches close range self-defense by combing wrestling movements with submission techniques. Grappling is employed when you have to defend yourself if taken to the ground or you’re grabbed. Circuit training is used to enhance muscular strength and explosive power. Grappling class is performed in a fun, challenging and high energy sports/competition atmosphere, as well.
